A "workcation" combines work and vacation — a flexible arrangement in which people work remotely while enjoying leisure time in a resort area or natural setting. Gyeonggi Tourism Organization has newly recommended six workcation destinations across Gyeonggi Province: Yangpyeong, Paju, Uijeongbu, Suwon, Icheon and Siheung.

From hotels overlooking the Namhan River to book-and-art-filled stays and ocean-view resorts along Korea's west coast, each destination offers a distinct atmosphere that boosts productivity while adding to the joy of travel. Here are six of Gyeonggi's leading workcation stays where travelers can fully immerse themselves in both work and rest without having to go far.

■ Bloomvista Hotel & Conference, Yangpyeong — An Office With a River View

Perched on a hill overlooking the Namhan River, Bloomvista Hotel & Conference in Yangpyeong is just over an hour from Seoul, yet the view outside the window feels worlds away from the city. Guests can take in the river's gentle currents and the mountains' seasonal colors from the rooms and lounges — even a brief glance outside during work can feel like a refreshing break.

The clean, modern rooms come with spacious desks and reliable internet, making them well-suited for remote work. The hotel's biggest strength is its workcation infrastructure — large conference rooms and meeting rooms of various sizes make it just as suitable for corporate workshops and small seminars as for individual workcations.

Start the day watching mist rise over the river, and wind down in the evening as the Namhan River glows with sunset colors. A walk along the trails near the hotel or the riverside bike path after work makes the line between work and rest disappear naturally.

Travel tip: Guests can get discounts on water leisure activities and paragliding in Yangpyeong, as well as at partner attractions in nearby areas such as Yeoju. Nearby attractions include Dumulmeori, Semiwon Garden and Yangpyeong County Art Museum.

motif#1 & Prenom, Paju — A Quiet Library Where Books and Art Reside

Located in Heyri Art Village, motif#1 has welcomed some 40,000 travelers from over 90 countries since it opened in 2005 as a creative space and book-stay destination for artists. First run by its founder, writer and photographer Lee An-su, it is now operated by his daughter, actress Lee Na-ri. The name "motif#1" reflects the hope that visiting artists will find the inspiration for the finest work of their lives.

The signature space, "the library," is surrounded floor-to-ceiling with tens of thousands of books, offering a sense of stillness the moment guests step through the door. Wood and exposed concrete come together in a space that feels both cozy and refined, with each room carrying its own character and garden views that shift with the seasons.

When focus is needed, the space becomes a quiet backdrop for deep work; when rest is needed, the space itself provides it. Wandering among the artworks and the quiet garden turns a simple stay into an experience where the time spent there becomes the purpose of the trip itself.

Travel tip: Many galleries, cafes and restaurants in Heyri Art Village are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, so it's best to plan meals in advance. Nearby attractions include Heyri Art Village, Congcino Concrete and the Forest of Wisdom.

■ Island Castle Hotel, Uijeongbu — Where Urban Wellness Meets Work

Located at the entrance to Uijeongbu, the administrative and cultural hub of northern Gyeonggi, Island Castle Hotel is a resort-style workcation complex with a large water park and spa facilities. Close to Seoul yet near the foothills of Mount Suraksan and Mount Dobongsan, it's an ideal spot for a "wellness workcation" that combines urban convenience with access to nature.

The spacious rooms offer views that blend Uijeongbu's cityscape with the surrounding mountains. Small meeting spaces and a business lounge inside the hotel make it well-suited both for individual work and short business trips requiring collaboration.

The biggest draw is the range of facilities using hot spring water, including a bade pool, sauna and jjimjilbang (Korean sauna). Guests can focus on work in the business lounge during the day, then unwind at the spa or walk along the nearby Buyongcheon Stream trail in the evening.

Travel tip: Workcation guests receive a sauna pass; operating hours for facilities such as the sauna and jjimjilbang vary by season, so it's best to check in advance. Nearby attractions include the Uijeongbu Arts Center, Buyongcheon Stream trail and Mount Suraksan.

■ Homes Stay, Suwon — A New Standard for Long-Term Workcations

Located in the heart of Suwon, Homes Stay is a co-living concept accommodation that combines hotel convenience with residence-style practicality. Its room layouts and stable work environment cater to both short stays and long-term workcation travelers staying a week or more.

The minimalist rooms meet both everyday convenience and work efficiency. The shared lounge and co-working space are equipped with desks, comfortable lighting and reliable Wi-Fi, and the common areas allow guests to naturally connect with other travelers, adding energy to extended stays.

Step outside and Suwon's blend of history and modernity awaits. Major attractions such as Hwaseong Fortress, Haenggung-dong and Gwanggyo Lake Park are all nearby, making it easy to stroll the fortress walls or explore the cafes of Haengridan-gil after work.

Travel tip: The shared kitchen in the second-floor social lounge has a refrigerator, induction stove and air fryer for simple cooking. Nearby attractions include Hwaseong Fortress, Haenggung-dong and Gwanggyo Lake Park.

■ Eden Paradise Hotel, Icheon — Immersion in an 11,570-square-Meter Garden

Eden Paradise Hotel in Icheon is a healing-focused stay surrounded by gardens and forest that showcase the beauty of all four seasons. It's easily accessible via the Jungbu Expressway, yet completely shielded from the noise of the city.

Its signature feature is a roughly 11,570-square-meter European-style theme garden. Green lawns and vivid flowers stretch out beyond the room windows, and the sound of the garden fountain clears the mind. Guests can walk trails lined with glasshouses and outdoor benches in the morning sun, or set up a laptop against the greenery for a nature-friendly work environment.

The dining options are just as strong. Guests can enjoy refined meals at the restaurant "Every Morning in the World" and the dining space "Tea House Eden," while Eden Library — where books and rest coexist — is a favorite among workcation travelers for quiet reading and work.

Travel tip: Guests get a 10% discount at the hotel's "Every Morning in the World" and "Tea House Eden." Nearby attractions include Icheon Ceramic Village, Seolbong Park and Lotte Premium Outlets.

■ Wave M, Siheung — Ending the Workday with a Red West Sea Sunset

Located on Geobukseom (Turtle Island) in Siheung, an emerging hub for marine tourism, Wave M is an ocean resort-style hotel offering sweeping views of the West Sea and the artificial surfing pool, Wave Park. With open sea views, dynamic leisure activities and sweet relaxation all in one place, it's quickly becoming a distinctive workcation destination.

The modern rooms offer ocean and park views that open up the sense of space, along with generously sized tables and a work-friendly layout. Looking up from the laptop reveals the exotic scenery of the world's largest artificial surfing pool alongside the vast West Sea — even a brief break can feel deeply liberating.

The highlight is unmistakably sunset. The deep red glow characteristic of the West Sea spreading across the water is enough to wash away a day's fatigue. Work in the morning while watching the waves, then enjoy the end of the workday with a walk along Geobukseom's coastal path under the sunset.

Travel tip: Guests receive a 30% discount on nearby marine tourism activities, including the Seohaerang Cable Car and yacht or boat experiences. Nearby attractions include Geobukseom, the Marine Ecology Science Museum and Oido Island.
