Curexo's spinal surgery robot 'CUVIS-spine' became the first domestic surgical robot that succeeded in entering the US medical market.

CUVIS-spine, a spinal surgery robot independently developed by Curexo, is the first in Korea to enter the US medical market.

Curexo announced that it has recently exported its spinal surgery robots, CUVIS-Spine, to two US spinal implant companies, ZAVATION LLC./AEGIS SPINE INC., one each.

ZAVATION LLC., established in the United States in 2011, is a company that designs and manufactures spinal implants, related instruments, and kits for minimally invasive surgery (MIS). And AEGIS SPINE INC., instituted in 2012 in Colorado, USA, is a company that provides various spinal implant medical devices such as lumbar expansion cage systems.

After obtaining domestic approval in 2019, CUVIS-Spine received CE certification in Europe the following year and FDA certification in the United States in May of this year, giving vitality to domestic and overseas medical fields.

Currently, a total of 4 units has been supplied in Korea: Sinchon Severance Hospital, Korea Surgical Robot Education and Training Center, and Pusan National University Hospital. Thanks to this accomplishment, Curexo was able to supply a total of three units: Australian LMT, US ZAVATION, and AEGIS SPINE.

Curexo CEO Jaejoon Lee said, "I am very proud that CUVIS-Spine, which commenced supplying the medical market last year, has finally succeeded in advancing into the US, the world's largest market for medical robots." "Starting with this export, we intend to continuously push ahead with the entry of various medical robots into the United States," he appended. He continued, "In particular, we will direct all our employees' competencies on expanding market share by developing the network with several medical device companies and actively promoting marketing pursuits centered on various academic societies."

Meanwhile, according to the Orthopedic Industry Annual Report, the global spinal implant market size in 2020 is $8661 million, of which the US is $6039 million, accounting for about 70%. The size of the spine implant market is expected to continue to grow in the future, with $9,828 million of this year's market size, an increase of approximately 13.5% from the previous year.
