Curexo's Morning Walk is a walking rehabilitation robot that can be easily used by anyone from children to adults and is currently used at 16 rehab centers of medical institutions in Korea. Morning Walk S200 is a next-generation model that improves the performance and treatment efficiency of Currexo's first-generation walking rehab robot, Morning Walk.

Curexo (060280) announced it has obtained European CE marking for its next-generation walking rehabilitation robot, "Morning Walk S200." It is the third achievement following the acquisition of the license from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety in Korea and the registration of the U.S. FDA, February this year.

With the acquisition of the European CE marking, Curexo will be able to enter 28 EU members, three EFTA countries, EU candidates, and neutral states. The Morning Walk S200 has already been supplied to Gyeongbuk Regional Rehabilitation Hospital after obtaining the domestic license and has recently confirmed two orders through state-run projects.

Many studies have been proving the safety and efficacy of the walking rehab robot, Morning Walk, in patients with stroke, spinal cord injury, Parkinson's disease, peripheral nerve disease, and total knee replacement.

The “Effects of robot-(Morning Walk ®) assisted gait training for patients after stroke: a randomized controlled trial” published in the SCI journal “Clinical Rehabilitation, 2019, Vol.33” shows a significant improvement in the Morning Walk assessment of randomized clinical trial of 58 stroke patients. The score of the Motricity Index, which measures limb strength, improved by about 69.8% compared to the control group, and the Berg Balance Scale, which assesses balance ability, by about 49.0% compared to the control group.

“Five-day rehabilitation of patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty using an end-effector gait robot as a neuromodulation blending tool for deafferentation, weight offloading and stereotyped movement: Interim analysis” published in the medical journal “PLOS ONE, 2020 Vol.15” found increased muscle strength by about 2.65 times compared to control group in Morning Walk patients after conducting a randomized controlled trial for five days with patients who had undergone unilateral total knee arthroplasty, dividing them into two groups, and comparing them by electrophysiological and biomechanical methods.

According to the clinical trial, "Feasibility of Robot-Assisted Gait Training with an End-Effector Type Device for Various Neurologic Disorders" published in “Brain & NeuroRehabilitation, 2020 Vol.13,” the Medical Research Council (MRC; assesses muscular strength) and the Functional Ambulatory Category (FAC; determines walking ability) increased in a total of 189 patients including 100 people with brain lesions, 40 people with spinal cord injuries, eight people with Parkinson's disease, nine people with peripheral neuropathies, and 22 pediatric patients.

Morning Walk S200 is a next-generation walking rehabilitation robot that will follow Currexo's first-generation walking rehabilitation robot Morning Walk. Currexo has greatly improved performance and treatment efficiency by collecting opinions from patients and medical staff during the treatment process, including boarding and dropping off mode, stride control function, strengthening report function, and VR mode.

CEO Lee Jae-joon said, "In many studies, rehab treatment using Morning Walk has secured a higher safety and usefulness evaluation than control groups, proving that the spectrum in which the robot can be applied is very wide. Curexo has been developing the machine by considering opinions from patients and medical staff. Having acquired CE marking from Europe, we are looking forward to accelerating into the advanced European market."

Another representative of the company also added, "The factors behind the first quarter's performance were the order intake for medical robots, the difference in revenue recognition, and one-time costs. Starting from the second quarter, we will be able to improve our performance along with the recognition of full-fledged sales of medical robots and normalization of trade and implant distribution businesses."
