Kimjeongmun Aloe and Tamnara Republic have signed the 'Miracle Covenant' MOU in Jeju, joining forces to jointly develop aloe-based 'elixir of life' tourism products.
Kimjeongmun Aloe and Tamnara Republic have signed a 'Miracle Covenant' MOU in Jeju, joining forces to jointly develop aloe-based 'elixir of life' tourism products. The partnership marks a bold new chapter for Jeju's tourism landscape — one that positions aloe as a fresh symbol of the island's identity, breathing new vitality into the local community.
■A Partnership Born from Legend — Reimagining the Ancient Quest for Eternal Youth
The MOU, signed on the 1st of this month in Jeju, goes beyond simple product collaboration. Its central aim is to develop new tourism content that weaves together Jeju's unique natural environment, history, and imagination.
At the heart of the project is a modern reimagining of the legend of Xu Fu (徐福) — the envoy sent by China's First Emperor, Qin Shi Huang, to Jeju in search of the mythical elixir of eternal life. Drawing on this story and the Kimjeongmun Aloe farm located in Seongup, Seogwipo, the two parties plan to transform a 'Jeju-style health and beauty brand' into a fully-fledged tourism resource.
■From Products to Experiences — A New Model for Tourism Collaboration
Founded in 1975, Kimjeongmun Aloe has spent five decades pioneering the health and beauty sector with aloe at its core. Through this MOU, the company is taking a decisive step beyond its product-centered business model — pursuing a new brand expansion that integrates hands-on experiences and cultural content.
CEO Kang Woo-hyun of Tamnara Republic — widely credited with transforming Nami Island into one of Korea's most iconic Hallyu tourism destinations and currently operating Tamnara Republic in Hallim, Jeju — captured the spirit of the collaboration : “The elixir of life that even the First Emperor could not find is not somewhere far away — it exists right here, in the way aloe is nurtured by Jeju's nature. The essence of this covenant is not about defying age, but about proposing a way to live each day with vitality and youthfulness.”
■Aloe as Jeju's New Symbol — Redefining the Island's Tourism Identity
The partnership is drawing attention as a deliberate effort to cultivate aloe as a new symbolic resource for Jeju, moving beyond the island's tangerine-centric agricultural and tourism structure.
Going forward, the two parties plan to roll out a range of collaborative initiatives in phases, including ▲an elixir-themed experiential program ▲aloe-based tourism products ▲cultural and educational content ▲and the development of branded spaces.
The two parties have anchored their vision in a powerful message : “If tangerines fed Jeju, aloe will make Jeju young again” — emphasizing that Jeju tourism can shift from conventional consumption to a lifestyle- and experience-centered model.
On the concept of the elixir of life itself, they propose a new interpretation : “The elixir of life is not a myth — it is a way of living” — presenting a new tourism philosophy that connects wellness with everyday practice.
The project is also being recognized as a forward-looking initiative that signals a paradigm shift in Jeju tourism — moving away from product sales toward selling experiences.
CEO Choi Yeon-mae of Kimjeongmun Aloe said : “This MOU is a new kind of collaboration model that brings together products, spaces, business, and culture. By adding imagination and creativity to the intrinsic value of aloe, we will evolve into a brand that offers customers genuinely new experiences and moments of inspiration.”
