“The first step in treating spine and joint disorders is an accurate diagnosis.”

This is the core medical philosophy of Nanoori Hospital Gangnam. Spine and joint conditions are often mistaken for one another and can closely resemble vascular diseases that occur in the lower limbs. To address this, Nanoori Hospital Gangnam recently recruited additional specialists and established a dedicated varicose vein team. This collaboration is essential, as varicose veins are frequently confused with spinal and joint disorders, making interdisciplinary diagnosis a critical part of the process.

Nanoori Hospital Gangnam emphasizes the importance of being equipped to provide the full spectrum of care—from non-surgical treatments and minimally invasive procedures to major surgeries requiring incisions. Dr. Jae Hyeon Lim, Director of Nanoori Hospital Gangnam, stated, “Personalized treatment is the key to managing spine and joint disorders,” adding, “Rather than relying on a single treatment method, we continue to strengthen our expertise across a wide range of approaches.”

Nanoori Hospital Gangnam places equal importance on both surgery and rehabilitation. Dr. Jae Hyeon Lim, in particular, believes that rehabilitation is the driving force behind a patient’s return to daily life. Guided by this conviction, he became the first Korean physician to complete the exercise therapy program at the University of Florida College of Medicine, laying the foundation for a distinctive and advanced rehabilitation system at the hospital.

Currently, Nanoori Hospital Gangnam's physical therapy center is equipped with a spinal muscle strength measurement device that is rarely found in other hospitals. After surgery, patients undergo a muscle strength assessment, and based on the results, they receive a combination of spinal strengthening exercises and physical therapy tailored to their condition.
